Happy Birthday, Dream Factory! Celebrating 19 Years of Innovation

Happy birthday, Dream Factory! Back in August of 1999, Paulo Cigagna and Jim Londeree founded a marketing agency designed to help their clients succeed in an increasingly competitive marketplace. Nineteen years of innovation later, the Dream Team celebrated our company’s anniversary with a Café Noir company lunch (our favorite!).

What’s Changed Since 1999?

As recently as 2013, Dream Factory was located in the Universal Orlando back-lot. Now we’re in the middle of downtown Orlando, looking down at the city from high up in Cobb Plaza. It’s incredible to look back at how much has changed over the years.



Dream Factory started out as a digital production house, but we’ve since become known as a process-driven, strategic marketing agency. While focusing our efforts in marketing, advertising and public relations, we’ve worked to keep our clients’ ahead of the curve by making that strategy part of our DNA.


What’s Ahead for Dream Factory?

The more things change, though, the more they stay the same. It’s going to be our 13th year at POWER-GEN, and this year, it’s right in Dream Factory’s backyard in Orlando, FL. We’ll be at the Orange County Convention Center, where we’ll be supporting our clients and getting in touch with the latest news from the power generation industry.

Fear Factory: The Dream Team Experiences Halloween Horror Nights

From now until early November, our home here at Dream Factory becomes quite a bit more terrifying, with Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) 23 underway at Universal Studios Florida®. The nightmares started to come to life this past week as the employee preview night took place and members from the Dream Team were among the first to take in the terrifying sights and screams of the attraction that was recently named “Best Halloween Event” by Amusement Today.

HHN 23 has plenty of new attractions for visitors to take part in this year, as well as some returning favorites.  A good portion of the haunted houses this year are tied to television and movie hits, and here are some of our thoughts on the excitement.

Cabin in the Woods

Nearly the whole team at Dream Factory agreed that this was the favorite house of the night. Inside, visitors experience an adventure similar to the film that took the horror movie genre and turned it upside down back in 2012. The experience is a one-of-a-kind trip into the cabin and the facility below, with a variety of terrifying creatures around every corner.

An American Werewolf in London

Much like Cabin in the Woods, this house takes its namesake from a popular movie. And just like the film version, the house was thrilling and exciting. Low ceilings and dark, limited space throughout made for a claustrophobic atmosphere, knowing you could be seconds away from something jumping right at you. The house also left little room to see where we were going, which was another scary part, as twists and turns were all over this attraction.

Evil Dead

The Evil Dead experience has much of the same terror as both the horror movie classic that was recently remade for theaters, as well as the original. The house was set up just like a movie would play out, with an opening credit-type scene that built anticipation for the many thrills ahead. With the key character appearing throughout the house, many triggered surprises were around every corner of this frightfully famous cabin.

The Walking Dead

As one of the biggest shows on TV, the Walking Dead attraction at HHN is a popular one. Most of our team enjoyed this one as well, as the sets were incredibly detailed and took you into the fire of the hit show. Strobe lights made the walkthrough scarier than ever, as the extremely realistic zombies came from all over. Needless to say, there were quite a few jumps and screams provoked from the Dream Team at this house.

Afterlife: Death’s Vengeance

This 3D experience was another favorite of the night for our team. The bright colors and lasers throughout made for a trip that was both fun and frightening at the same time. Almost serving as a fun house type atmosphere, this made for a trippy and unique adventure compared to the other haunted houses, with LED lights and surprises around every turn.

Bill & Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure

Tons of laughter is a surprisingly large part of HHN 23, even with the terrifying houses and scares around every corner. Bill & Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure is an annual favorite at Halloween Horror Nights, and is back for another year of pop culture commentary and general laughter with the two stars of the classic 80’s movie. We loved how this year’s version of the entertainment comedy included a number of entertainment references, with hilarious takes on everything from Miley Cyrus to Duck Dynasty and many more topics in mainstream media.


Along with these, there were plenty more scary activities and adventures in other haunted houses and shows. Come visit Universal Studios Florida® for yourself and experience all of the evil taking root at Halloween Horror Nights 23, right in Dream Factory’s backyard!

It’s amazing to realize that we have been producing creative and cutting-edge work since 1999! Let’s take a look back at how we’ve reached our company goals, dive into our 14th anniversary celebration at Dave & Busters, and explore what big plans are in the works now and over the next few years.


Making Success a Reality

When we were started by Paulo Cigagna and Jim Londeree 14 years ago, there was a dream of creating advanced marketing and advertising strategies, as well as building a company with great culture that helped other businesses succeed. Today, we can certainly say that is the case.

We are currently servicing clients, large and small, in a number of different fields, ranging from energy and industrial to tourist attractions, retailers and more. We have strived to stay at the forefront of our industry, continuously developing new marketing approaches. Through these, we weave both modern and traditional formats to deliver marketing strategies tailored to each clients’ objectives. Today, we continue to develop advanced marketing strategies, allowing our clients to strengthen their brands, stay ahead of the competition, and grow to new heights.

Located on the Universal Orlando backlot, our company culture has also continually grown with outings to the park and other exciting company events. We’re extraordinarily proud of the people that have been along for the ride, our dedicated Dream Team of marketers, copywriters, designers and more, as well as the solutions we’ve provided for businesses throughout the years.


Celebrating 14 Years

To celebrate a great occasion such as 14 strong years in marketing and advertising, we took in a day of fun at Dave & Busters. Innovation comes best from creatively fed minds, so after a delicious company meal, we got into some heavy competition on all kinds of interactive games.

There were some intense battles on the racing games, basketball shootouts and also a few jackpot ticket hits. Even though there was a lot of competition in the atmosphere, we all enjoyed the laidback, fun time spent between all of us here at Dream Factory. With all the great game-playing, we were able to take home amazing prizes and bring in some great new additions for the Dream Factory offices.


Looking to the Future

With all of the great success and wonderful experiences of the past few years, we are excited with what the future will bring. As we are celebrating our anniversary while summer winds down, we’re also wrapping up the release of one of our biggest projects in recent years,

Our new website is a comprehensive project for 2013 and was on our minds from the outset of the year. It has been an “all hands on deck” type of affair for the agency, as nearly everyone had a major part in the end product, a totally new look for our web presence. Keep an eye out for our next blog on the completely responsive design and updated look of the website and all of the main features as we finalize this company milestone.

In addition to our new website, we have also worked on our blog and our social media. As you can tell, the blog has taken on a new look, closely resembling the new website. We’ve also begun expansion on our social media presence with a variety of brand new content on all platforms. One of the new content streams will include our Marketing Tip Tuesday, a series of diverse marketing and advertising tips for businesses to be shared every month with followers on different platforms.

With everything going on at Dream Factory, we’re thrilled to be celebrating 14 years in marketing, advertising and public relations, and we’re looking forward to the future. Dream Factory Joins QuantumFlo for the 2012 ASPE Convention

2012 ASPE Convention

Along with our client QuantumFlo, Dream Factory will be heading to the Charlotte Convention Center this weekend to take part in the country’s largest plumbing tradeshow!

The 2012 American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) Convention and Exposition will run from October 27-31, 2012 and offers our team the opportunity to support the great advancements in plumbing and pump technology by QuantumFlo.

As the only gathering of plumbing engineering and design experts focused on education and career growth, QuantumFlo is one of many industry leaders who’ll be in attendance. They’ll join over 300 other exhibitors at the convention and exposition, while over 30 professional development sessions will allow visitors to learn about the latest products and techniques in the plumbing industry.

Dream Factory helped QuantumFlo prepare for the tradeshow by developing online and print campaigns leading up to the convention. We also assisted by gearing up social media efforts in plumbing and pump technology to help grow anticipation for QuantumFlo’s big week in Charlotte.

Leading up to the exposition, Dream Factory will be holding a workshop for over 50 distributors in the pump and plumbing industry to showcase our work. It will include a full review of our research-based development of advertising, marketing and social media campaigns that have proven results in the plumbing industry.

The theme of the week is racing, designed around the tie between the history and popularity of the sport to the Charlotte, North Carolina area. To go along with the convention’s auto theme, QuantumFlo will have their company-sponsored 1000 horsepower dragster at the booth, as a photo-op will allow visitors to be automatically entered into a daily iPad drawing at the convention.

How Your Agency Can Stay Current

When it comes to advertising and marketing agencies today, one thing is for certain; things are constantly changing. From new apps to social platforms, it seems like companies could have an entire department dedicated to staying current with this ever-changing industry. Although hard to have all of your bases covered, we’ve compiled a list of things you (and your entire staff), to ensure everyone is in the know. Guest Speakers and Conferences We are lucky to be working in an industry that surrounds us with many admirable and successful individuals. And when we’re really lucky, these people like to talk about themselves. Keep track of and follow the people you like as they can be end up being some of your most valuable resources. Then, when they speak at your local university and or other social gathering, you can be part of the magic. Send your junior creatives or go as a team! There is always a ton of insight to gain.   Local Ad2 Programs There are many industry groups out there such as AAF but have you been staying in touch with your local Ad2 Program? Most cities have an active branch of one or the other and they’re a great way to stay involved in your local advertising community. Below are just a few things they offer:

Being involved is great for your organization and it can help with team bonding as well as exposure for your agency. Gather your team or entire agency and Tweet along with the presentation, you can engage and interact with other agencies and users, to gain even more insight on the topic. Creative Festivals There are a lot of unique ways to explore your creativity both as an individual and as an agency and one great way is to surround yourself with other creative festivals. Every year, there are different, weekend festivals around the country aimed to share new technology trends and artistic strategies. Some of the things you can expect include:

  • Keynote Speakers
  • Conferences
  • Graphic Design/Artistic Exhibits
  • Bands

Depixtions Event: A Success

Everyone in the office had their photos chosen and it was also a great turnout for a great cause.

Uniting fellow camera phone enthusiasts around Central Florida, prints of the chosen photos were pasted all over the walls of the studio where people could view, buy and even frame pictures of their choice.

This show was free and open to everyone that wanted to see their photo displayed or connect with other mobile phone photography fans. Each print was for sale for $7.00 with all proceeds going to the New Hope for Kids charity. Being a part of this unique event really brought the office together and it was great to support such a meaningful cause. Plus, we couldn’t help but be immersed in the growing obsession of camera phone photography.

Dream Factory Supports New Hope for Kids

We all love taking photos using our smart phones and sharing them with the world. Now imagine having the opportunity to make a difference with one of those everyday snap shots.

All of us over at Dream Factory Productions participated in a contest for where we submitted a photo to be entered in a community photo show over at Orange Studio in Orlando, FL. The pieces selected will be printed and put up for sale with all proceeds going to New Hope for Kids. New Hope for Kids is a charity that supports children and families grieving the death of a loved one and grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses in Central Florida.

They currently have 464 entries that are approved for the show. So fingers crossed, Dream Factory should be getting an email any day now to see if one of our photos was chosen.
